Pride - beyond the celebrations
I've written this newsletter again and again and again. It's the last day of Pride and nothing feels right. Xenophobia, ultra-violence, the criminalisation of queer people in Africa, we been in a recession and extreme climate change is wrecking havoc on us. And the first people that suffer under these conditions are people seeking international protection, dark skin people, poor people, trans people, fat people and disabled people. And it's those same groups fighting for everyone's humanity and so often their needs ain't met.
reach out locally, connect with people working and/or support the people let down by orgs
I imagine rest and tranquility because it feels so far away and I've invited queer disabled people to rest, I've thanked them for being queer and wished them happiness because we deserve it. And in this world sometimes have to buy rest, buy peace of mind and we are the most financially abused by capitalism so I'm pleading with every single person that reads this newsletter to reach out locally, connect with people working and/or support the people let down by orgs and institutions yet still brave enough to ask for direct help:
