The Journey Back to Beauty

When there is clean water for all

Then I might concern myself with beauty

When the ice caps are no longer melting

And habitats are safe from degradation

When money is an ancient concept

And the stock market the peculiar practicing of a begone era

When mines and sweatshops are emptied of over exploited children

Then I might probably peek at beauty

And only after universal free healthcare is accessible to all

When passports are obsolete

When our dignity is not undermined for our "safety and security"

When the nuclear family resembles a nuclear fall out

Might I concern myself with beauty

Because only when the Niger Delta is free from pollution and poison

When information is freely shared without hatred

Can I really on occasion, if the skies permit, dabble into pondering whether I could think about beauty

When corporations and colonisers are castrated and culled

Cruel conservatives condemned to face the consequences of their cruelty

Corporationism killed by countless cuts

Then perchance I may consider a casual interest in contemplating a conversation regarding the concept of beauty
