Events, Opportunities, Resources and Support- July/August

We would love to share some events, opportunities, resources and people you can support.

Thursday 24th July
Grief Circle
By the Cutlery Drawer
When: July 24th. 7PM GMT +1/ 2PM EST / 11AM PST
Grief circles are a chance to talk about your grief in a non-judgmental and non-carceral space. The Cutlery Drawer invites you to share whatever you feel like sharing – it could be how you feel about grief, things helping your grief, working out some feelings, etc.
Non-carceral meaning they promise not to call the police or other authorities.
Alber will be hosting the Grief Circle and Love, Builder of Worlds will be hosting a black/African only space within the Grief Circle.
Saturday 26th July
Into The Whimsy Void : a queer crip variety show
By the Cutlery Drawer
When: July 26th. 9PM GMT +1 / 4PM EST / 1PM PST A virtual variety show to showcase queer disabled performers safely from home. The Cutlery Drawer is providing a time to dip into the whimsical safely from home. They wish want to prioritise the most marginalised performers who are gatekept from performing because of ableism. This event will be MC’d by drag artist Ignacio Daddy!
Opportunities
COPE MAGAZINE VOL. 1 - this new magazine is looking for disabled/chronically ill artists to share how they cope daily or long term.
Cripple Punk Mag - this is a magazine looking for disabled artists in punk and DIY music.
Seeking: Essays, criticism, news and reviews, literary nonfiction, fiction, rants and raves, comics, and beyond
The Passion Project Radio - They are looking for housebound performers who have lost opportunities due to disablement and isolation.
Online Resources

This is for the writers, many journals and publications and writing opportunities to be found.

This is for the photographers who don't have the money for expensive photo editing equipment.

This is for the digital artists looking for a new medium to explore

This is for the musicians who don't have hundreds to spend on DAWs (digital audio workstation.

This is for artists looking for sounds and free instrument packs.
